The Power Of The Word

THE POWER OF THE WORD

This is great power in the Word of God.  In Scripture the word of God is compared to many different things.

It is a mirror that reveals to us our true selves, warts and all (Js.1:23f).

It is a lamp that lightens our paths and shows us the way (Ps.119:105).

It is like water that bring us refreshment from the weariness of life (Prov.25:25).

It is a two-edged scalpel that lays us open and bare before Almighty God (Heb.4:12f).

It is like an arrow that pierces our hearts and stirs our emotions (Acts 2:37).

It is like bread, which nourishes us and give us daily sustenance (Mt.4:4).

It is like milk, which strengthens us as we grow in respect to salvation (1Pet.2:2).

It is likened unto a hammer that breaks us open and a fire that refines our being (Jer.23:29).

It is like a seed that germinates in our minds and hearts and flourishes in bringing forth fruit (1Pet.1:23).

Charles Spurgeon one stated that the word of God is like a lion - -

“You don’t have to defend a lion.  All you have to do is let the lion loose, and the lion will defend itself.”

WHERE WOULD WE BE WITHOUT GOD’S WONDERFUL WORDS OF LIFE?
